Abaqus is a technology-leading FEA product suite which provides complete finite element modeling and analysis solutions for simulating the real world behavior of materials, processes, and products.  The iSIGHT-FD Abaqus component creates a direct link to Abaqus, allowing the user to modify a reference Abaqus input file, execute the Abaqus solver, and extract results from either an ASCII .dat output file or binary .odb output file.  This component can be used together with iSIGHT design drivers to perform Abaqus optimization, Abaqus DOE, or Abaqus Monte Carlo simulation.

The component provides default support for most input key words:  *ACOUSTIC MEDIUM, *AMPLITUDE, *AXIAL, *BEAM GENERAL SECTION, *BEAM SECTION, *BOUNDARY, *BULK VISCOSITY, *CFILM, *CFLOW, *CFLUX, *CLOAD, *CONDUCTIVITY, *CREEP, *DASHPOT, *DENSITY, *DFLUX, *DLOAD, *DSFLUX, *DSLOAD, *DYNAMIC, *ELASTIC, *EXPANSION, *FLUID DENSITY, *FRICTION, *HEAT TRANSFER, *HYPERELASTIC, *IMPEDANCE PROPERTY, *INITIAL CONDITIONS, *MASS, *NODE, *PLASTIC, *SHELL GENERAL SECTION, *SHELL SECTION, *SOLID SECTION, *SPRING, *STEADY STATE DYNAMICS, *TEMPERATURE, *THERMAL EXPANSION, and many others.  Furthermore, key word support is configurable and extendible by the end-user through a configuration file to allow support for any additional key words or to modify default parameter names.
